Three Exercises To Jump Higher As An Irish Dancer

Want to see an improvement in your power and explosivity in your Irish Dancing in JUST 4 weeks?

 

In four weeks, with consistency and hard work, you can make massive improvements in your jump height, which will WOW the judges and your teachers. 

 

Follow these exercises below at least 3x a week and see your jump height go from average to amazing!!

 

Kneeling Single Leg Deadlift 

1. Start in a kneeling position with one leg in front of the other like in the image below 

 

2. From this position, take your time, to push your weight through your front leg so that you stand up, ending in a T position. It is important that you don’t rush this movement - make sure you are doing this in a controlled manner. 

3. Once you find your stability, lower yourself back down into the starting position

4. Repeat this x8 on each leg 



Single Leg Deadlift Opens

1. Start in the ‘T’ position that you did in the first exercise; as seen in the image below 

 

2. From this position twist your body (you need to rotate to the opposite direction of the leg which is on the floor). You may need to hold on to something to get your balance, but this shouldn’t take any of your weight off your foot. 

3.Then rotate back to the original position from the first image and return to the standing position. 

4. Repeat x4 on each leg 



Kneeling Lunge Hops

1. Once again, start in the kneeling lunge position that you were in for the Kneeling Single Leg Deadlifts. 

 

2. From there, focusing on pushing through your front leg, stand up with speed and sharpness into a standing hop position; as the image below shows 

 

3. From here reset, and start the move again. Repeat x8 on each leg.
